It’s shame the old stadium is now rubble and turning into flats.”

Sadly they did not get the result their support deserved [Denmark won 1-0] but the memory of being in that amazing stadium in one of Russia’s more provincial tournament towns will stay with me forever.”

I went on to cover their wins over Italy on a golden goal and Spain on penalties before Germany stopped them in the semi-finals.“An incredible time to be in a host country for a World Cup.”
